About

The Artificial Intelligence–Natural Language Processing–Machine Learning (AI–NLP–ML) Group in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna) was established on December 7, 2015.

Led by Dr. Asif Ekbal, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the group is dedicated to advancing cutting-edge research across the broad domains of Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, and Machine Learning, aiming to create meaningful impact at both national and international levels. The group focuses on developing innovative and scalable solutions to address challenges of strategic importance to industry and society, while contributing to national priorities and technological self-reliance.

The group's research activities are supported through generous funding from various government agencies, including MeitY, SERB (now ANRF), the Ministry of Home Affairs, C-DOT, and DBT, as well as through collaborations with leading industries and organizations such as Accenture, Flipkart, Elsevier, Wipro, Samsung, ezDI, Skymap etc. Through these partnerships, the group continues to drive impactful research, technology development, and real-world innovation.
